I realize times are tough for some folks and downright dreadful for others.  At the same time I see many others that are thriving.  So, if the economy is so bad why do we have only 10% unemployment?  To me that’s 90 employment.  The fact is life has two sides, the eternal duality or dichotomy that’s inherent in our very existence.  Pleasure without pain is meaningless, as success is without failure and abundance is without scarcity.  As Shakespeare once said; nothing is inherently good or bad, it’s your thinking that makes it so.  So, change your thoughts and you will change your life.

An important Message form Sam Sadat 

As the US and global economy further deteriorate, it’s clear we have a long way to go before things assume a semblance of normality.  The latest LA Times poll shows that 50% of Americans are struggling which I guess it means the other 50% are thriving.  The reason for this is that in life things never stay the same.  So, if it’s not getting better then it’s getting worse.  Along the same line, I had a call from one of my friends who frantically referred to an unemployment rate of 7.5% as being the cause for all our woes.  My immediate response to him was that this stat only means that we have a 92.5% employment rate.  Following the same logic, there is always the other side of the coin which indicates an empowering attitude instead of a victim mentality. 

Here is the scoop from my perspective.  1. There’s no longer a need to point fingers at who’s the cause of all this mess.  2. The fact is that we are in a big mess and there’s no turning back. In fact, it’s the worst mess since the Great Depression.  3. We the people who this government is supposed to serve are essentially powerless when it comes to what it decides to do with our money.  4. The government will not do anything for you, so don’t expect a handout or anything remotely designed to help the people of this great nation. 5. We must take charge of our own lives if we are to survive this calamity. 6. The first step is recognizing that we have the power to change our destiny. 7. We need to change our thoughts from struggling into striving. 8. We need to eliminate fear thoughts from our mind.  9. Acknowledge that you can make a difference in your own life by taking action. 10. Know in your heart that whatever the outcome, you’ll be fine as long as you don’t lose your health in the process. 11. Remember the 3 pillars of a successful life: Freedom, Joy and Love.

I’m so thrilled the election movie is finally over.  We spent more than $8 for every man, woman and child in America to pick a president.  I wonder if it will become a success at the box office.  But we proved once more that America still is the land of Opportunity.  Where else on earth, or anywhere in the Milky Way Galaxy for that matter, is this phenomenon even conceivable?  And for that I am proud to be an American.  

While many people here and around the world perceive this event as a shift in our consciousness, and I certainly agree with that wholeheartedly, I am not so sure what this president can really do to make any wholesale changes.  In reality, the only person who can affect any positive change is you.  Never mind what the new government can do for you.  Just be mindful of what you can do for yourself and your loved ones. So, all I have to say about this hoopla is: So what? Now what? 

Historically speaking, a change in presidency simply shifts the balance of power and money from one group of people and industry to another.  To me it seems that very 4 or 8 years, the horseman changes but the horse is pretty much the same.  There may be little tweaks here and there but ultimately the horse must follow along a certain long term path.  Does my statement seem shocking to you?  Just examine the record of our presidents in the last 50 years to see what percent of their promises actually came true and how many “dumb mistakes” they made at our expense?  Were they ever held accountable?  Did you see any heads roll?  We have been rewarding incompetence and that’s exactly what we have been producing, more incompetent people in both our politics and economics.  Bailouts are just another form of handouts to the few at the expense of many.  Is this going to save the day?  No way Jose!   

So, no matter how excited you might be about our future, do not look at our politicians, or our so called leaders, to change anything for you and your family.  Don’t think for a moment you can get any real help from your government now or in the future.  Like it or not, that responsibility is placed squarely on your own shoulders.   So, what are you to do in the midst of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression?  for starters, transform your thoughts: Recognize the inherent existence of opportunity in crisis. And then, here are some useful tools to help you achieve financial independence.

I am not much of a conspiracy theorist but no matter how I look at this latest calamity it leads me to believe we have been set up on a grand scale.  Exactly who all is behind it is not clear to me but I am certain it is by design or default at some level.  Whether it happened as an act of commission or omission is beside the point.  It’s here now and we must deal with it but not the way our government is going about it.

I just don’t buy the notion that things just got out of hand due to circumstances beyond our control.  How can a crisis of this magnitude just sneak up on us?  How many times does this have to happen before we learn our lessons?  Was it not just 20 years ago when the S&L crisis and its eventual bailout cost the American taxpayers over $600 billion? Mark my word.  This bailout will cost us over 3 trillion dollars! And one more thing.  There may not be anything left to bailout anyway, as I foresee a possibility of a total collapse of our banking system in the very near future.  

But wait!  While this is bad for a lot of people and that’s unfortunate, I feel excited about the prospects.  For the next 2 years we get to buy a lot of properties at deep discounts.  We’ll flip some to be sure but we should also consider holding some as cash flow properties.  This way, you get to set yourself up for life.  And this is not a wishful thinking but a fact!

The short answer is no.  But wait Sam!  How about all the evidence to the contrary? Well, the answer requires some examination because it’s a little more profound than that.  After all, doesn’t it seem “obvious” that external factors are in fact influencing our lives to a great extent?  On surface it looks as if we really attain happiness and success from external sources, does it not?  Fore example, the real estate market is booming and a s result it’s easier to make money.  There is also no denying that a robust economy is conducive to our overall sense of financial well being.  But do external factors alone determine our morale?  Morale is defined as having a high sense of worth, confidence and high spirit.  So, I ask the question again in a slightly different context.  Can external factors alone lead us to prosperity and happiness?
